1. Set up and secure your freelancer account

Create an account, verify your email and choose the freelancer role during onboarding. Use a unique password and enable multi-factor authentication from Account security.

  • Use your real professional details and keep them current.
  • Do not share sign-in or verification codes.
  • Check your account workspace for profile, proposal, engagement and assessment actions.

2. Build a specific, evidence-based profile

Use a professional title that describes the work you actually do. Explain the problems you solve, the services you offer and the contexts in which you have relevant experience.

  • List only skills and experience you can support.
  • Use case studies to explain the problem, your role, approach, deliverables and outcomes.
  • Remove client names, confidential data and claims you do not have permission to publish.
  • Keep availability, countries served and engagement types accurate.
Manage your profile

3. Choose projects that genuinely fit

Read the full brief before proposing. Check the required outcome, deliverables, timing, budget, location and engagement type against your current capacity.

  • Do not apply only because a category or keyword matches.
  • Identify unclear dependencies or access requirements before estimating.
  • Skip work that requires qualifications, permissions or capacity you do not have.
  • Avoid copying the same proposal into unrelated projects.

4. Write a proposal that reduces uncertainty

Explain how you would approach this project, not your career in general. Use a price and delivery estimate you can honour, and state the assumptions behind them.

  • Reflect the client’s desired outcome in your own words.
  • Describe the first steps, deliverables and review points.
  • Use milestones where the work benefits from staged approval.
  • Mention relevant evidence without making unsupported guarantees.
  • Ask focused questions when missing information could change scope, cost or timing.
Track your proposals

5. Review every term before accepting

A client’s acceptance sends proposed contract terms. The contract becomes active only after you accept the displayed scope, price or rate, delivery estimate and milestones.

  • Compare the terms with the conversation and your proposal.
  • Resolve mismatches before accepting.
  • Do not start work that depends on missing access, files or approvals.
  • Keep material scope changes in the Afrigig record.

6. Deliver with a clear handover

Submit work against the agreed deliverables and explain what is included. Provide the files, links, instructions or limitations the client needs to review it.

  • Check files and links before submitting.
  • State any agreed assumptions or known limitations.
  • Respond to valid revision requests against the original scope.
  • Use dispute support if a material issue cannot be resolved directly.
  • Leave a factual review after an eligible completed engagement.

7. Use assessments and credentials accurately

When an assessment is available to your account, read its requirements, permitted-tool rules, evidence limits, retake terms and appeal route before starting. Submit only your own authorised work.

  • An Afrigig credential applies only to the named assessed specialism and issued scope.
  • It is separate from identity checks, portfolio evidence and client reviews.
  • Only current active credentials appear on public hiring surfaces.
  • Use the assessment dashboard for feedback, accommodations, appeals and renewal actions when available.

8. Protect your work and account

Afrigig does not currently provide marketplace payments or escrow. Do not assume that a payment request, receipt or release is protected by Afrigig.

  • Never disclose passwords, verification codes or unrestricted credentials.
  • Use the least access needed and ask for test or sandbox data where possible.
  • Report suspicious content through the relevant marketplace control.
  • Use the privacy-request workspace to request access, correction, closure or deletion review.
